 Many people think music is all for fun and entertainment. Is it just mere entertainer? 

To be on a safer side, music is worth more than “just entertainment”. The functions it performs at different occasions, at different emotions and at different locations makes it unique and a special element of art and can be gotten from different sources.

Below are functions music performs;

1. Religious Functions: Music used in religious criteria has wide purposes. Its uses range from rituals, worship sing in churches, Islamic prayers for Islam practitioners. Religious music is also called sacred music. 
2. Ceremonies: Graduations, wedding ceremony, house warming etc have a role they play in the importance of music as a ceremony rite of passage. 
3. Social Activities: Music is used in activities  such as dancing for exercise, fun, entertainment and other roles dancing performs. 
4. Competition: Music is used by arts industry to award medals to songwriter, songstress etc. This enhance strict competition among music artists.
5. Cultural Function: Music as an art is widely used in different culture. It serves as a mean of identifying and distinguishing  cultures.

The above extracted functions are used quite almost everyday. People make music almost every seconds.
